The Toronto Maple Leafs made their first deadline move on Sunday by picking up veteran center Tomas Plekanec, and are still working the phones now. According to Sportsnet Nick Kyreos, the Leafs and general manager Lou Lamoriello have an offer on the table for New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh. Kypreos mentioned however he's not sure if it's enough to get the deal and also confirmed three other teams that are in the race with the Leafs. The insider lists the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and now the Pittsburgh Penguins as the other teams pushing for McDonagh. Yesterday, Lance Hornby confirmed the Leafs were still in on McDonagh and that looks to hold true with Kypreos' latest comments. Another report out of New York states that McDonagh is not on the team plane today and is 100% guaranteed to move by the deadline.
