Things got a little feisty in the first period of tonight's Leafs game after Morgan Rielly took exception to Anthony Stolarz being run into by a Red Wings forward.

As expected with two divisional rivals going head to head, the temperature rose a little bit in the first period of tonight's pre-season contest between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings.
Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond was going hard towards the net after a shot was fired from an angle, however he made contact up high on goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who as we all remember, sustained a concussion in nearly the exact same manner during the playoffs against Florida last year.
The Maple Leafs were quick to react as defenseman Morgan Rielly charged after Raymond, almost immediately, and got into his grill before the referees had to break things up.
With Joseph Woll out indefinitely tending to a personal family matter, the Leafs are already shorthanded when it comes to the goaltending position. The last thing they need is for another starter to go down with the season set to begin next week.
Rielly's actions should make the Red Wings think twice the next time they try to get anywhere near Stolarz, who had a strong first period otherwise, stopping all 9 shots fired his way.

Will the Leafs take exception to players making contact with their goalies this year?
