The Toronto Maple Leafs unfortunately didn't really get what they paid for when they gave up a 1st round pick for forward Nick Foligno at last years' trade deadline. It was confirmed as just a rental when Foligno ditched the Leafs' this offseason to sign with the Boston Bruins. Foligno was attracted by what they have in Boston and said a phone call by Patrice Bergeron sealed the deal. The forward took the time to speak about his experience in Toronto while talking to The Athletic. "I actually loved my time in Toronto. I think it was really good for me to see another organization and how they run things. It had been nine years since I'd seen that. From top to bottom, it's a first-class organization. They come as advertised. They're trying to win. They're calculated in everything they do. They have great staff. I really liked the group of guys. My disappointment was getting injured and not being able to contribute the way I knew I could and the way I was before I got hurt. That's something I'll have to live with, and it's not easy for me. At the same time, I know I gave everything I could with the injury. I can leave there with my head held high. I hope people feel that way, too.I went there with great intentions and was trying to help that team win, and we didn't get it done. So I take a lot of responsibility. You have to also realize there's stuff to learn from it and try to get better. Unfortunately, it wasn't going to be me getting better with Toronto, and I had other opportunities and went a different way. But I thank them for the opportunity to try and win with them and learn from them. I honestly had a blast. I wish I could have played in front of their fans. That would have been a really cool experience for me, especially with my dad (Mike Foligno) having played there. I'm disappointed, but I still felt the love. I know it didn't go the way we planned, and that's the only black mark on my time in Toronto, as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure other people have different opinions (laughs) of me, but I tried to give it my all."What do you think of Foligno's comments?
