"Off the ice it's been a very interesting couple of days for Leafs Nation. Leafs' forward William Nylander is still holding out for a new contract and it doesn't look like general manager Kyle Dubas is ready to give in anytime soon. On Wednesday, Leafs' President Brendan Shanahan said he's looking for his players to make financial sacrifices for the greater good of the team. Thursday, an interview Nylander had with Swedish media made it's way around social media where he says he wants to stay in Toronto, however didn't really sound like he's looking to take any pay cuts and said he's looking out for his future. While appearing on 1050 Thursday, Darren Dreger revealed that Nylander's asking price is still at $8.5million and a contract similar to Edmonton Oilers' forward Leon Draisaitl. Dreger stated that Nylander's father, Michael Nylander, is working along side his agent Lewis Gross, and they're not willing to move off those numbers.
