According to insider Darren Dreger, the Leafs are gauging the trade market on Nicholas Robertson as they look to make some changes this summer.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs have important business to take care of when it comes to the extensions for Matthew Knies and John Tavares, that hasn't stopped GM Brad Treliving from looking at different pieces on his roster as he continues to gauge the market for Nick Robertson.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Maple Leafs are currently shopping the RFA-to-be, and with the market white hot right now in relation to young talent, this would be the best time to strike.
After a fantastic tenure with Peterborough Petes, coupled with 4 campaigns with the Toronto Marlies at a near-point-per-game pace, the 23-year-old hasn't been able to translate that same level of success to the NHL with either Sheldon Keefe or Craig Berube behind the bench.

Why It's Finally Time to Pull the Trigger On a Trade Involving Nick Robertson

After essentially having his trade request denied last summer, the Maple Leafs gave Robertson the opportunity to shine in 2024-25. He did tally a career-high 15 goals in 69 games, but he only added 7 assists and his overall impact was muted in 12:00 ATOI.
Robertson was also scratched during the Leafs' first round series against Ottawa in favour of Max Pacioretty, who scored one of the biggest goals in recent memory for the Leafs in Game 6 to eliminate the Sens.
Scheduled to be an RFA again this summer, Brad Treliving left a lot to be desired when asked about Robertson's status, but stated that they're still in the early days of their process and they'll see how things play out.
"He's still a young player (23). He's still an evolving player He shoots it in the net & that's a good skill-set to have. We'll see how it all plays out. We're [in the] early days here."
It remains to be seen what his actual value is on the trade market, but Robertson has managed 32 goals and 56 points in 156 games, and it might be high time for both sides to move on.
