Treliving explained there had been lots of communication with Knies and his camp, but that he is not overly concerned about negotiations going into July 1st when the 22-year-old would be subject to offer-sheets.
Both of those extensions are five-year deals, which is where many believe Knies ends up. While the Leafs want to get a deal done before the former second-round pick becomes vulnerable to an offer-sheet, Leafs Nation is hopeful that the deal ends up being less or more than five years as to not walk the rising star directly to free agency.
