The Maple Leafs have reportedly quietly shown interest in a young, 6'3, 200-pound defenseman on the Philadelphia Flyers ahead of Friday's 3PM trade deadline.
According to the Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco, the Leafs have quietly checked in on the availability of 24-year-old left-shot defenseman Egor Zamula.
Although the Leafs' main concern is finding a centre, Treliving noted last week that he would like to add a defenseman. Despite the availability of Ristolainen, the asking price is significantly higher than what it would cost for Zamula and if Treliving wants to add to two positions with one deal, a trade for Laughton and Zamula would be the way to go for the Leafs' GM.
The undrafted free agent signing is averaging just under 17 minutes per game with the Flyers through 44 games. He has registered 3 goals and 14 points in those contests.
Since making his debut as a 20-year-old during the 2020-21 season, the Russian blueliner has registered 39 points in 136 games while averaging 16:04 of ice-time per game.
