The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off another gutsy win on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames and they happened to have a surprise guest in the house for the event.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off of a much needed 4-3 win at home, against the former team of GM Brad Treliving, the Calgary Flames.

Max Domi Plays Crucial Role in Victory

After a slow start to the 2025-26 campaign, Max Domi stepped up in a big way, playing a key role in the win.
Domi scored twice, including the game-winning goal, helping the Maple Leafs secure an important victory and potentially kick-start his season.

Familiar Face Spotted at Scotiabank Arena

Former Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Gardiner was spotted in attendance at the game, appearing as part of the Maple Leafs Alumni Program, which sees former players present team merchandise to individuals being honoured at home games.

Gardiner's Career with the Maple Leafs

Jake Gardiner enjoyed a long NHL career spanning from 2011 to 2021, amassing 277 points in 645 career games.
He played for the Maple Leafs from 2011 to 2019, often paired with Morgan Rielly on the blueline, and became a steady presence through both rebuilding years and playoff pushes.
Gardiner's best season came in 2017-18, when he recorded 52 points in 82 games, cementing himself as one of the team's top offensive d-men.
After multiple injuries, Gardiner departed Toronto in 2019, signing a four-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Gardiner's Post-Maple Leafs Career

Following his move to Carolina, Gardiner's career was unfortunately derailed by recurring back and hip injuries. He played just 94 games with the Hurricanes before being placed on long-term injured reserve during the 2020-21 season.
He has not played an NHL game since and is no longer under contract. While it appears his playing days are behind him, Gardiner has not officially announced his retirement.

What's Next for the Maple
Leafs

The Maple Leafs will look to build on their victory when they hit the road to face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night -- the only game on the NHL schedule that evening.
Toronto will aim to keep the momentum rolling as they look to climb back into form after a slow start to the season.
