Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving confirms that his team is expected to be busy at the NHL Entry Draft and will explore options of moving up or down.

As the NHL Draft is set to begin, many teams are entering with different strategies-whether it's trading up, moving down, flipping picks for immediate help, or focusing on long-term prospects.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs, general manager Brad Treliving has confirmed the team is open to all options, including moving their current pick if the right opportunity arises.
As per Lance Hornby on X:
"On moving up in the draft, perhaps back to the first round, Treliving put out an equal possibility Toronto moves down from its current spot at 64th if the right offer comes along."

Recent Events Highlight the Importance of Drafting Well

This draft will be a key one for Treliving, who now has full control of the roster and is looking to leave his mark. Unlike former GM Kyle Dubas, whose many high-risk draft picks have yet to pan out, Treliving appears to be taking a more flexible, measured approach.
With strong indications that the Leafs want to shift the team's identity and DNA, there's no better place to begin than the draft, where future building blocks are found.
The Leafs also missed out on the JJ Peterka sweepstakes, losing out to the Utah Mammoth, who were able to offer a better trade package. The move highlights the importance of drafting and developing a strong pipeline of young talent.
It remains to be seen how the Leafs will proceed, but with cap space to work with and pressure to make meaningful changes, expect Treliving and his team to be active in the next day or two.
