"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas will have to get creative with the salary cap over the next couple years. That means we'll likely see a lot of younger players crack the lineup along with some cheap veterans. Another avenue general manager Kyle Dubas will likely explore is signing players from overseas. According to KHL insider, Pavel Lysenkov, Dubas recently held meetings with Mikhail Grigorenko and Nikita Nesterov, both UFA's next summer. Grigorenko was a first round pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2012 and has spent the last three seasons with CSKA Moscow. The 25 year old currently has 15 points in 16 games this year. Nesterov has also spent the last three seasons with CSKA and has seven points in 16 games so far. The 26 year old defenseman last played 13 games with the Montreal Canadiens in 2016-17 and was a fifth round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2011.
