Leafs Preparing To Place Jason Spezza On Waivers?

"One thing that's for sure since the start of the season, it's that Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock does not like Jason Spezza. Spezza had been a healthy scratch for the majority of his time in Toronto before the John Tavares injury opened up a bit more playing time for him. But now with Tavares back and Zach Hyman very close to a return, it seems that Spezza might be the odd man out. The Leafs are trying to showcase Nic Petan for a trade but there doesn't seem to be any takers and Toronto is more willing to let Spezza go for free. We'll see what happens in the next couple of days.

Sounds like Spezza will be waived when Hyman returns.
He's not a great fit as a 4th line center. But gotta say if I'm looking for a mentor for L. Brown, White, or Norris. I'm bringing him back to Ottawa a 700k, and playing him ahead of Anisimov, Ryan, Boedker, or Beaudin.
