One of the weakest penalties you'll ever see in a playoff game was called on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi in Game 1 against the Florida Panthers.

It was an infraction that shouldn't be called in an exhibition matchup, and Maple Leafs fans are in complete disbelief. We'll get to that.
For just the 2nd time since 2004, the Toronto Maple Leafs have advanced to the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and are matched up against the defending Cup winners, the Florida Panthers.
Not only did the Panthers eliminate the Maple Leafs from the 2023 post-season, but they now also feature former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand in their lineup, along with previous pests Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett.
Speaking of Marchand, he managed to draw what can easily be considered one of the worst penalty calls you'll ever see near the beginning of Game 1. The infraction was so weak that you'll have to see it to believe it.
Marchand had words with Maple Leafs forward Max Domi, who had made minor contact with him as he crossed over the Toronto blue line. The two then met face-to-face briefly before being split up.
However, the on-ice officials blew down the play to issue a cross-checking penalty, much to the disbelief of nearly everyone in the building - including Toronto head coach Craig Berube.
Berube was not only flabbergasted at the call, but made sure that the officials knew that he couldn't have more strongly disagreed with their decision.
Marchand has faced the Leafs in the playoffs many times in his career with the Boston Bruins, including in 2013, 2018, 2019, and 2024.
