Leafs' Behaviour This Summer Should Tell Us All We Need to Know About Plans for Veteran Winger

We're very deep into the summer, and while the Maple Leafs have had a busy couple of months, everyone is still waiting to see what they plan to do next.

After deals for Nicolas Roy, Matias Maccelli and Dakota Joshua, the Leafs appear to have bolstered their depth immensely. Whether or not that's enough to overcome the absence of a player like Mitch Marner remains to be seen.

For weeks, we've been hearing that the Maple Leafs are still pondering a move for a top-6 forward. We've also been hearing about plans to move one or both of David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok, their continued interest in Jack Roslovic, and the potential for Easton Cowan to make the NHL this season.

All of this to say that we may finally know the fate of Max Pacioretty, whom the Leafs were rumoured to still he interested in bringing back.

With the Leafs having been so busy and having so many bodies available to them already, I think we can confidently move forward knowing that Pacioretty will not be back in Toronto.

The veteran winger has struggled mightily with his health in recent years, and as a result of what the Leafs had to endure last season without him in the lineup for much of the year, it wouldn't be shocking if they always had plans to go in a different direction.

Pacioretty still does have some potential suitors even this late into the summer, including the Detroit Red Wings. However, when it comes to Toronto, I think we can likely cross his name off the list.
