"The Toronto Maple Leafs open up training camp today and general manager Kyle Dubas and head coach Mike Babcock met with the media. With lots of questions to be asked, there was only really one subject reporters wanted to talk about and that was Mitch Marner. Marner of course remains unsigned, was a no show at yesterday's golf tournament and from various reports has been talking offer sheets with other teams and contemplating heading over to Europe. Kristen Shilton from TSN summed up Dubas' comments relaying that Dubas said "Important player. Great person. Want him here. Optimistic something gets done. In every negotiation, both sides probably feel the other is being unreasonable, but will be no hard feelings on Leafs side in the end"Dubas added that he won't be talking any further about the Marner situation until the contract is officially signed.
