"While there's nothing happening on the ice at the moment, there's plenty of news around the league regarding contract signings. NCAA players are making the jump to their NHL teams and with the KHL season suspended teams are trying to land guys who want to jump over to the NHL. KHL contracts expire at the end of April so while there might be a "hand shake agreement", nothing can be made official until then. The Toronto Maple Leafs have already been connected to one KHL forward, Alexander Barabanov. According to KHL insider Igor Eronko a deal is in the books. Leafs' general manager Kyle Dubas didn't back down from confirming the interest saying "he's someone we're definitely interested"."He's a very strong winger, tremendous playmaking ability, great skill level and ability to make plays under pressure."Dubas also mentioned the team has spent a lot of time scouting and watching him.
