"The Montreal Canadiens made a pretty big roster move earlier this week when they placed defenseman Karl Alzner on waivers. The veteran hasn't been able to fit into the Canadiens style or system and has been the odd man out watching the majority of the season from the press box. Pierre LeBrun reported earlier this week that Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin is working with Alzner's agent to help facilitate a trade. Now Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that many teams believe Alzner just needs a change of scenery and change of system and will be able to bounce back after his struggles in Montreal. Pagnotta adds that the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of those teams and that they've shown interest in Alzner. The big problem is that Alzner is signed through the 2021-22 season at a $4.625million cap hit and Pagnotta makes it clear that any team would request the Canadiens to eat some of Alzner's salary and take on another player. Do you think Alzner could help the Leafs defense in Mike Babcock's system?
