After a solid outing against the Calgary Flames on Monday night, Joseph Woll was right back in the net for the Maple Leafs on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche, linking together back-to-back starts.
Earlier in the day, Leafs head coach Craig Berube talked about not having any clear answers to the Nathan MacKinnon conundrum. Suffice it to say, there are some players in the league that are simply just difficult to stop. Fortunately for the Leafs, Woll had all of the answers on Wednesday.
Joseph Woll Made a Bold Statement About His Maple Leafs Teammates Following the Win Over Colorado:
Following the game, Woll issued some comments on his first career start against MacKinnon, and also made it very clear that there's not a roster in the entire NHL that he'd rather play behind than the Maple Leafs.
"He's a good player (laugh). This year is my first time playing him and McDavid and they're special players and they have their reputation for a reason, but I'll take the guys we have in this room 10 out of 10 times."
If he can stay hot, there's no reason why we shouldn't see Joseph Woll as the starter when the playoffs kick off next month. Yes, Anthony Stolarzhas been a beast this season, the owner of the 2nd best goals saved above expected per 60 minutes in the NHL, but with how well Woll is playing right now, unless he falters down the stretch, he probably should be the starter for Game 1.
