Steven Lorentz celebrates his shorthanded goal Wednesday night

The Leafs were finally on the receiving end of a good bounce on Wednesday night as they got some help from the officials on Steven Lorentz's game-winning goal.

Signed to a one-year deal after a successful PTO and a very good training camp, Steven Lorentz was finally able to realize his childhood dream of playing for the Leafs this season.
The 28-year-old Kitchener, Ontario product has been the only constant on the Leafs' fourth line, skating in all but one game this season, which he missed due to injury.
Brought in for his penalty killing, speed and physicality, Lorentz wasn't expected to provide much offensive punch in a bottom-six role, but after Wednesday night, he is now just 4 points off of tying his career-high.
Early in the third period with the Leafs on the penalty kill, Simon Benoit cleared the puck down the ice in an attempt to get a line change. As the referee, Kelly Sutherland was attempting to get out of the way of the clearing attempt, he toe-picked and fell to the ice, stopping the puck just outside of the Colorado Avalanche blueline.
What started as a loud 'boo' from the crowd quickly turned into exuberant cheers as a streaking Lorentz picked up the puck and proceeded to beat MacKenzie Blackwood with a rocket of a shot to give the Leafs the lead.
Lorentz's goal - his first in 19 games, and sixth on the year - ultimately stood as the game-winner, helping the Leafs win their second game in a row.
Despite only scoring 6 times on the season, half of the Stanley Cup Champion's goals have stood as game-winning goals, which may bode well in the playoffs as the Leafs have never really gotten timely contributions from their bottom-six.
Following the game, Lorentz was asked about the fortunate bounce that resulted in a big two points for the Leafs.
"It seems like I've had a few bounces go the other way this year, so we'll take that."
The Leafs have liked Lorentz's play since the beginning of the season and reportedly would like to get former seventh-round pick extended.
Lorentz and the Leafs won't have much time to enjoy their win, however, as they are back in action on Thursday night against the New York Rangers.
