The star forward has really struggled with his consistency in Carolina and has reportedly been looking for a change of scenery. However, up until today, we really had no idea what type of return the Hurricanes are expecting to receive.
Friedman's co-host, Jeff Marek, clarified that what this means is that Carolina is not looking for a return based on futures. They don't want picks and prospects, they're looking at more of a hockey trade, star-for-star.
Obviously, with Necas being a restricted free agent, the possibility of an offer sheet does exist, though we don't see a whole lot of them occur. However, with Necas as disgruntled as he is in Carolina, perhaps he wouldn't hesitate to sign one, which makes dealing him soon a priority for the Hurricanes.
