Former Maple Leafs enforcer Jay Rosehill called out Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jalen Chatfield for a very dangerous maneuver during his fight Wednesday night.

On Wednesday night, as Alexander Ovechkin inched closer to breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record, it was the actions of Hurricanes defenseman Jalen Chatfield that took over the post-game coverage.
The Hurricanes were up 5-1 with 5:22 left to play in the third period when Chatfield and Capitals forward Connor McMichael dropped the gloves in one of many tilts during the penalty-filled third period that saw 115 penalty minutes handed out in the final half of the period.
Unfortunately, the fight ended with a rather disturbing play from Chatfield where he used a judo hip-toss and flung McMichael to the ice almost smashing his head off of it. Thankfully, McMichael didn't hit his head, but many were outraged at Chatfield's decision, including former Leafs enforcer Jay Rosehill.
Rosehill took to 'X' posting that there was no reason for Chatfield to hip-toss McMichael and that it had 'cracked skull written all over it.'
Rosehill wasn't the only former enforcer to callout Chatfield's actions as John Scott also took to 'X' calling the move 'gutless' and for Chatfield to be suspended.
Although fans and former players called for the NHL to hand out a suspension, somehow the Hurricanes' defenseman avoided any supplemental discipline.
The Hurricanes and Capitals will meet once more next Thursday and you can be sure Tom Wilson will have something to say about Chatfield's actions and it won't be surprising to see a few fights to begin the game before the focus turns back to Ovechkin's record chase.
