During the summer the Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas might have to get creative to bolster their roster. The team will need to add some help on the blueline and might have to sacrifice Alexander Kerfoot to get some help through trade. So who could step in and takeover a third line center role?According to Elliotte Friedman that person could be Joe Thornton. Thornton wanted to be traded at the deadline to a contender, but the San Jose Sharks didn't find any trade partners that they felt were serious contenders. Friedman reports that from what he's heard the Maple Leafs were actually one of the teams that tried to acquire him at the deadline. According to the insider, Dubas decided to not make any moves after their embarrassing loss to the Hurricanes and see if the team can get it together without outside help.
