A dangerous hit from Nashville Predators forward Ozzy Wiesblatt on Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Easton Cowan on Tuesday could receive some attention from Player Safety.

With all of the talk this week about Easton Cowan's NHL debut, the Leafs rookie sensation has delivered so far through 2 games.
Cowan's debut on Monday was as solid as they come, with the 20-year-old looking every bit the part of an everyday NHLer, creating chances, being physically engaged and playing a solid two-way game. Even his teammates commented on how he handled himself at the highest level in hockey.
Unfortunately, one Nashville Predators forward opted to take a run at the former London Knights star in his second NHL game, drilling him into the Leafs' net away from the puck.
Ozzy Wiesblatt, who played with a chip on his shoulder most of the game, saw Cowan headed back towards his own goal, and purposely drilled him into the post behind Cayden Primeau, which drew the ire of Cowan's teammates and the Leafs faithful in attendance.
Thankfully, Cowan wasn't any worse for the wear on the play, and was able to quickly make it back to his feet, much to the relief of everyone watching on in disbelief.
One has to wonder whether Wiesblatt will receive a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for this one.
What was the purpose of this hit if not intent to injure? The puck was being fired around behind the net, and neither player was within reach of it.
I'm all for players playing a physical game, but there's certainly a line, and Wiesblatt crossed it in his attempt to injure the Leafs rookie. Hopefully the league steps in and makes an example of the former Sharks draft pick.
