Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas made a pretty big deal during the season for Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin. Muzzin proved to be a good part of the team's play down the stretch especially once he created some chemistry with Nikita Zaitsev on the blueline. Fans wanted to see a bit more action during the trade deadline but Dubas stayed pretty quiet.Apparently there was a deal on the table with the Edmonton Oilers which eventually fell apart. According to Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek on the 31 Thoughts Podcast, the Oilers had a deal which involved Connor Brown. Brown would have went to Edmonton and in return the Leafs would have received 24 year old defenseman Matt Benning and possibly 24 year old winger Jujhar Khaira. Benning had five goals and 12 assists in 70 games this season while Khaira had three goals and 15 assists along with 43 penalty minutes in more of a depth role during 60 games. Khaira is an arbitration eligible restricted free agent this summer and Benning is signed for another year at $1.9million while Brown is signed for another year at $2.1million. Would you have liked to see the trade happen?
