Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has enjoyed great success with the team in his first season in Toronto, but few have realized that it's actually record-setting.
In his first year behind the bench in Toronto, Craig Berube has led the Toronto Maple Leafs to a remarkable 50-26-4 record, placing them at the top of the Atlantic Division. With just two games remaining, the Leafs have all but secured first place in the division -- an impressive accomplishment when you consider the drastic leadership changes.
Berube's debut season isn't just successful -- it's actually historic. His 50 wins set a new franchise record for the most by a head coach in their first season with the team, placing him among some of the greatest Leafs coaches of all time.
"50 wins in his first season as the boss.
• Most wins by a Leafs head coach in his first season with the team:
Craig Berube: 50 and counting (2024-25)
Pat Quinn: 45 (1998-99)
Pat Burns: 44 (1992-93)"
Of course, Berube's first season in Toronto will largely be judged on how the team does in the playoffs, but it's still worth celebrating a successful first season.
