After being rumoured for weeks, Lou Lamoriello has officially walked away from the Toronto Maple Leafs. After being removed from the general manager position, multiple insiders stated that Lamoriello wouldn't be comfortable in a senior advisor role and would leave the team when possible. Most indications had him joining the New York Islanders, and it has now become official. The team announced on Tuesday that Lamoriello will be taking over the position of President of Hockey Operations. "I am excited to join such a storied franchise and look forward to working with Scott Malkin and the entire New York Islanders organization," Lamoriello said.
