"As the Toronto Maple Leafs general manager search continues, the Leafs got some bad news on Thursday morning. Only 10 days after he was told he would not be in the General Manager role going forward, Lamoriello has confirmed with The Athetic's Arthur Staple that he has absolutely no intention of staying on with the Leafs as a Senior Advisor. There's been plenty of speculation about Lamoriello's future, most of it pointing at him joining the New York Islanders to work with his son Chris who's been the director of player personnel since August of 2016. Staple mentioned that Lamoriello's arrival on Long Island is "inevitable". Lamoriello's son Chris isn't the only connection Lamoriello has to the Islanders, Chris Terreri who played and worked for Lou as their goaltending coach and former Devils center Scott Gomez as an assistant coach.
