Bennett's sucker punch takes Marchand out for Game 4
During Game 3 of the Bruins and Panthers' second round series, Sam Bennett took out Brad Marchand with a sucker punch, leading to an unfortunate update for Game 4.
The play occurred during the 2nd period, as Marchand attempted a routine hit on Bennett, who gripped the knob of his stick tightly and drilled an unsuspecting Marchand in the face.
Marchand was very slow to get up after the play, and unfortunately for the Bruins, he was forced to leave the game and did not return.
The hope from the Bruins' side of things was that Marchand would be good to go for Game 4. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Bennett did not receive any supplemental discipline on the play, which highlights the need for a more proactive Player Safety Department in the NHL. George Parros simply hasn't done a satisfactory job of protecting the players.
