"It was a story that blew up across the internet and in print media. Controversial reporter Steve Simmons revealed that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews had been tested positive for COVID-19. Up until that point the NHL had been doing an incredible job of keeping all positive tests secret to give players some privacy. Matthews had already expressed his disappointment in Simmons when training camp opened and last night the two spoke for the first time since it all went down. While Matthews was fielding questions following the Leafs Game 1 loss to the Blue Jackets, Simmons asked a question.Matthews wasted no time in letting his feelings known. "Well, first of all, it's unfortunate that I'm getting a question from you at this point, Steve. I just wanted to say I didn't really appreciate the article you wrote about me a couple months ago. I thought it was a bit unethical to be honest."
Being the gentleman he is, Matthews went on to answer Simmons question anyways.
