It was a wild scene at Gila River Arena in Glendale Arizona on Friday, as a runaway game for the Anaheim Ducks resulted in tensions boiling over with a frustrated Arizona Coyotes team.

With time winding down on a game that was well in the bag with the Ducks leading 5-0 in the late stages of the third period, Coyotes forward Jay Beagle decided to create some chaos by delivering a stiff cross check to the back of Ducks rookie Trevor Zegras.
Zegras' teammates did not like the play and they made sure that Beagle and the Coyotes knew it, with a scrum ensuing in the seconds following the cross check, with Zegras momentarily on the ice. Beagle grabbed ahold of the first Ducks player in, who just happened to be the team's leading scorer Troy Terry, and dropped his gloves and delivered several stiff punches on Terry, who had no intention of dropping the gloves. After a series of unanswered shots, Terry dropped to the ice and in need of attention from the trainer.
Following the game, Zegras had some choice words for Beagle, though he did not specify names. Zegras spoke with conviction and called for league intervention and supplemental discipline for Beagle for his actions.
At this point, the Department of Player Safety has not indicated that any supplemental discipline will take place, but this situation is one that may warrant it.
