Report: Jonathan Toews appears likely to sign with a Canadian team this summer

With all of the focus on Patrick Kane in Chicago at this year's deadline, there is another 3-time Cup champ in the Windy City who may be preparing for a move up North this summer, as TSN's Mike Johnson reports.

Johnson revealed recently that he believes that Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews may be preparing to sign in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Not only that, but Johnson also believes that Toews could take a hometown discount with the Jets if it means they'll be able to compete for a Cup.

Toews, 34, has spent his entire 15-season NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks, minus the year that he missed with a mysterious ailment in 2020-21. In 1,047 career NHL games, the Hawks captain has racked up 368 goals and 872 career points in the regular season. He's also racked up 119 points in 137 career playoff games.

The Winnipeg, MB native is in the final year of an 8-year, $84M contract, which he signed with the Hawks back in July of 2014.
