As Leafs fans, we like to joke about whether or not the NHL officials favour teams like the Boston Bruins. It's pretty clear that when the Leafs and Bruins meet, the B's tend to get away with a little more than the Leafs do, but on Thursday, a referee got a little more involved than he should have.
Last night, during the third period of the Ottawa Senators 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins, referee Corey Syvret had the puck get caught up in his skates. He took a moment, and as a Senator player approached him to gather the puck, kicked the puck towards a Bruins player behind their net.
Is this more blatant bias towards Boston from the officials? Or just the ref continuing the puck's natural movement? Either way, with the Bruins down at that point of the game, it's a clear example of game management taken to a whole new level.
