Michael Bunting was seen skating and working on drills before today's scheduled morning skate per The Leafs Nation's David Alter. Bunting has been sidelined the last two games due to an undisclosed injury sustained against the Florida Panthers on Saturday, April 23rd. He was seen partaking in drills that seemed to work his injured right leg.
The Scarborough native also returned to the ice for Leafs practice, but skated as an extra, indicating that he will not return to the lineup against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
With 23 goals and 40 assists in 78 games so far this season himself, Bunting has made himself a nice spot and role on the first-line. His tough playstyle, physicality, and ability to get under the opponents skin makes him an extremely valuable piece heading into the playoffs. The Leafs will want to fully utilize that grinding skill set against their more-than-likely first round opponent, Tampa Bay Lightning.
