Leafs radio personality reveals what the Leafs would have to pay to acquire Jakob Chychrun

The Leafs have been linked to Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun since last season and a recent report by TSN's hockey insiders during "Insider Trading" this past week confirms that they have at least checked in on the 24-year-old blueliner this summer.

The Leafs are certainly not in a position to be able to take on Chychrun's $4.6M AAV through 2024-25 without first moving some money, but even if they had the cap space to fit him in, the Coyotes' asking price is likely prohibitive.

According to Mike Augello, a Leafs correspondent, if the Buds wanted to make a move to bring in Chychrun, they would have to part with one of Rasmus Sandin, Timothy Liljegren or Topi Niemela, one of Nick Robertson or Matthew Knies, as well as a first round draft pick. Augello did mention that the Yotes would also be willing to take back a contract like Alexander Kerfoot or Justin Holl in the deal.

I can't imagine a scenario in which Leafs GM Kyle Dubas agrees to pay that price. If that's what Yotes GM Bill Armstrong is demanding in return for Chychrun, I'd imagine that the Leafs are probably out - and as well they should be.
