Well, good news fellow Leaf fans, it appears our drinking problems are in fact caused by our favourite hockey team! This is evidenced by the fact that Leafs fans not only drink more at games, but also spend more on alcohol than any other fanbase in the NHL. In second place are Blackhawks fans, who have to distract themselves from how bad their team has been - pre Connor Bedard era anyway. Interestingly, Tampa and Colorado fans occupy 3rd and 4th place. Even Stanley Cup celebrations can't match the tanking Hawks and the perpetually disappointing Leafs.
Looking over the full list, I'm shocked that Habs fans made it through the last 2 seasons with as little alcohol as they did. I assume it was because they were too depressed to even leave their seats to go buy beer. The Coyotes landing in the top 5 is also surprising considering the fact that half the students at the college arena they play in are under age. For us Leafs fans, it's been 56 long years since we could claim to be number one. It's nice to be on top again!
