Keefe confirms his goaltender for Friday's game against Pittsburgh

The goaltending carousel has been on full display in Toronto, with all of Matt Murray, Ilya Samsonov and Erik Kallgren playing games early. If Murray experiences a slight delay in his recovery, we could even see the newly-signed Keith Petruzzelli make it into his first career NHL game on Saturday. However, if Murray is given the green light and gets his medical clearance, we should see him on Saturday against the Canucks.

In terms of who will start against the Pens tomorrow, Sheldon Keefe confirmed following practice on Thursday that Erik Kallgren will get his third consecutive start. This is not exactly surprising given how well he played against Boston (3rd period), Carolina and Vegas.

The end of the line could soon be coming for both Kallgren and Petruzzelli at the NHL level with Murray's return imminent and with the news that Ilya Samsonov's knee injury wasn't nearly as bad as first assumed. Having said that, it's a long year ahead and we all know that injuries happen. In Murray's case, they have hampered him throughout much of his career, unfortunately - so it's likely that we'll see either Kallgren or Petruzzelli back with the Buds at some point this year.
