Florida Panthers winger Jonathan Huberdeau has blown the doors off of his previous career best of 92 points in 82 games, answering with 113 points in just 77 games this season. Huberdeau, who is undoubtedly in the running for the Hart Trophy this season, has also set an NHL record for most assists in a season by a left winger. His running total sits at 83 assists currently.
Huberdeau is a very humble player and person. While he is a competitor, he's certainly not the cocky type and is very quick to give praise to others, acknowledging their skill and appreciating certain aspects of their game. This season, Huberdeau has been enjoying the play of Auston Matthews.
When asked on Saturday who he'd give his vote to in the Hart Trophy race, Hubie looked at Matthews' unparalleled goal scoring ability as the x-factor, giving the Scottsdale, AZ kid his due.
I'm sure if you asked Matthews, he'd have a mutual appreciation for Huberdeau as well. The two superstars are Atlantic Division rivals, but while their level of familiarity with one another would be prevalent having played against one another so frequently, they also got a glimpse of what it would be like to be on the same side during the 2022 NHL All-Star Game back in February.
