Buckle up, Leafs Nation - we could have a decision on whether or not NCAA standout Matthew Knies will sign his entry-level deal with the Leafs or head back to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore season very shortly.
Knies has flip-flopped on whether to sign with the Leafs or go back to college to compete for an NCAA title next season. It was originally thought that he was leaning towards signing his ELC with the Buds, but just a few days later, reports came out suggesting he contrary.
On Saturday, it was announced that the Leafs were going to be meeting with Knies over the next 24-48 hours, which means that the meeting likely either happened on Sunday or will be happening today. Among those pitching Knies on signing with the Leafs are GM Kyle Dubas, President Brendan Shanahan, captain John Tavares and fellow Arizona product Auston Matthews.
