With Calle Järnkrok expected to be week-to-week and players banged up from their recent win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night, the Leafs were in a spot where some good news was needed.
Toronto's cornerstone winger and playmaking specialist Mitch Marner has missed the past two games with what was confirmed to be a high-ankle sprain. Fortunately, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldok Keefe confirmed on Friday that while Marner's injury is likely more than day-to-day at this point, he isn't expected to miss much more time.
With Marner being a catalyst in all zones and a player that Keefe uses in every situation, his absence is certainly troubling for a team that relies on him so much. Here's hoping that a return next week is in the cards.
