Son of Maple Leafs Fan Favourite Takes Huge Step in His Young Hockey Career

The son of former Maple Leafs fan favourite Nikolai Kulemin has officially taken the next big step in his young hockey career, and could be poised for a bright future.
As the Toronto Maple Leafs prepare for a new season, so too do the many junior and minor league teams across the hockey world, as they look to make selections on who will represent their teams in the upcoming season.
Former Maple Leaf Nikolai Kulemin received exciting news this week, when his son, Aleks Kulemin, was selected 9th overall in the OHL Priority Selection. He has signed a Scholarship & Development Agreement with the Kingston Frontenacs.
As per Nick Richard on X:
"Aleks Kulemin, son of former Leaf Nikolai Kulemin, will join current Leafs prospect Tyler Hopkins with the Kingston Frontenacs."
Nikolai and Aleks Kulemin Possess the Same Skillset as Strong Two-Way Forwards
Already standing at 6"2 and 170 pounds, Aleks Kulemin is already earning recognition for his strong two-way game -- much like his father. Kulemin has spent time in the Don Mills Flyers AAA organization, standing out as a very strong prospect.
Father, Nikolai Kulemin, enjoyed a 669-game NHL career, split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders, where he recorded 274 points and built a reputation as a reliable, responsible forward.
Most recently, Kulemin attempted an NHL comeback at age 38, signing a professional tryout with the Ottawa Senators. Though he participated in preseason games, he did not ultimately secure a roster spot.
A fan favourite during his years in Toronto, Kulemin is still fondly remembered by Leafs Nation. Now, attention turns to Aleks, as fans wish him the very best in his pursuit of an NHL career.
