After acquiring Chris Kreider, the Anaheim Ducks have a plethora of wingers and are reportedly looking to deal a 30-goal scorer who could really help the Leafs.
With the Ducks looking to get back into the playoffs next season, adding the 34-year-old veteran gives them more experience, but an abundance of wingers. The trade initially led to many speculating that, after years of rumours, Trevor Zegras was finally going to be on the move.
That does not appear to be the case however, as NHL reporter Andy Strickland revealed that instead of Zegras, the Ducks are looking to move Troy Terry.
Terry, who holds a 10-team no-trade clause, has 4 years left on his current deal that carries a $7M cap hit. He may not put up 90 or 100 points the same way Marner has done, but has scored 101 goals over the past four seasons and more than 50 points in each, and has never played with someone like Auston Matthews during his career.
The 6'0, 190-pound right winger was a fifth-round pick in 2015 and while he hasn't exactly shot the lights out in the NHL, he hasn't exactly been on the best of Ducks teams in recent years, which may actually help lower the Ducks' asking price to something more affordable for the Leafs.
