The Toronto Maple Leafs' top defensive prospect and Oshawa Generals captain Ben Danford is reportedly on the move in a late trade.
Eventually, Danford was sent back to the Oshawa Generals for his final year of OHL eligibility, but there were rumblings that he could be traded. Well, that's exactly what appears to be happening.
In a late night announcement from OHL Scoops, Danford and teammate Zackary Sandhu are in the process of being dealt to the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for two players and a collection of draft picks.
Danford has a penchant for throwing heavy hits and even dropping the gloves if the situation calls for it. In addition, he is known for being an astute defender with good instincts and some untapped offensive potential.
The trade makes sense, as it gives Danford the opportunity to follow in
Easton Cowan's footsteps and compete for an OHL championship and a Memorial Cup this season.
While the terms of the deal are not fully official yet, pending finalization of the deal, we can't speculate as to how many picks are involved, but typically with these types of deals, the list of draft picks can be considerable, and will usually include at least one 1st round pick.
