Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton suffered an unfortunate injury on Thursday against the Red Wings, and the team appears to have already selected his replacement.

Things were looking good for the Toronto Maple Leafs coming into the regular season, as the team appeared to be fully healthy following the returns of Max Domi and Simon Benoit over the last week.
Unfortunately, with Scott Laughton suffering a lower-body injury on Thursday against Detroit, the team will not be at full health for awhile, as the diagnosis wasn't good, sidelining Laughton for multiple weeks.
While it's not confirmed, Laughton may have suffered an injury when he blocked a shot on the penalty kill last night, as suggested by TLN's Nick Richard.
Laughton has had one heck of a pre-season for the Leafs thus far, and make no mistake, this injury is going to hurt them a lot at the bottom of the lineup.
Thankfully, the Leafs happen to be a deep club and already have a replacement lined up for Laughton in depth forward David Kampf, who was centering Steven Lorentz and Easton Cowan at practice on Friday.
While Kampf doesn't offer much in the way of offense, his forechecking and defensive play are strong and can still be an asset for this team, though nowhere near as effective as Laughton.
Kampf's name has been involved in trade rumours dating back to last season, but with the injury to Laughton, he'll have another opportunity to prove his worth to the organization while Laughton is on the mend.
