With all eyes on the Maple Leafs series against the Florida Panthers, the team's front office continues to plan for the future by signing a young 30-goal scorer.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs organization is currently laser-focused on its series with the Florida Panthers, and Sam Bennett's hit that injured Maple Leafs' goaltender Anthony Stolarz, the team is also making sure it doesn't forget about the years to come.
As everyone waited for a highly anticipated update on Stolarz's condition, the Maple Leafs took the time to sign a young, skilled forward to a contract with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
"Sim, 20, posted 53 points (30 goals,23 assists), 105 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +29 in 54 regular season games with the London Knights (OHL) during the 2024-25 season.

He has recorded 11 points (9 goals, 2 assists) and 23 penalty minutes in 12 games during the 2025 OHL Playoffs."
Sim was originally drafted in the sixth-round by the St. Louis Blues in 2022. He never signed an entry-level contract with the team, and recently became a free agent. The Nova Scotia native is known for his gritty attitude on the ice.
As an added bonus for the Maple Leafs, Sim has been teammates with top-prospect Easton Cowan for the past few years. It seems highly likely both will be playing together next season as well.
If Sim keeps developing the way he's been going, his one-year deal with the Marlies could be seen as a stepping stone to bigger and better things in the near future. In the meantime, he'll look to contribute as much as possible during the OHL final between London and Oshawa.
