After close to two decades of eligibility, NHL legend and Maple Leafs fan favourite Alexander Mogilny is being inducted into the Hockey Hall Hall of Fame

If your initial reaction to the latest news involving beloved former Toronto Maple Leafs player Alexander Mogilny is "what took you so long?", you are completely justified.
The Russian winger, who played for a number of teams over his 16-year career, has received the required 75 percent of the vote from the 18 members of the Hockey Hall of Fame's selection committee.
Mogilny played three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2001 to 2003 after the member of the IIHF's Triple Gold Club signed a four-year deal with the team. The last season of his contract was, unfortunately, spent on the sidelines after undergoing major hip surgery.
Meanwhile, joining Mogilny is another former Toronto Maple Leafs player and fan favourite in Joe Thornton. While he played just 44 games with the Maple Leafs in 2021-22, he was highly praised for his leadership with the team's up and coming stars.

The Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Has Been Announced

Joining Mogilny and Thornton in the Class of 2025 from around the league are Zdeno Chara, Duncan Keith, Jack Parker, Brianna Decker, Jennifer Botterill, and Daniele Sauvageau.
