Auston Matthews is the Maple Leafs' new all-time goal scoring leader, and with Mats Sundin in town, Matthews took the opportunity to test one of Sundin's old sticks from his 41-goal season.

Last night, ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs' thrilling 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers to move to 5-0-2 in their last 7 games, the team held a special ceremony to honour captain Auston Matthews after he scored goals #420 and 421 against the New York Islanders over the weekend.
The pair of goals tied the record for most goals scored by a Maple Leafs player in franchise history, and then broke it, with the previous owner of the record, of course, being the legendary Mats Sundin.
Following the game, Sundin took some time to hang out with the guys in the Leafs' locker room at Scotiabank Arena, along with long-time friend Tie Domi.
While Sundin could probably still play in today's NHL given his incredible skill set during his illustrious NHL career, there's no question that there's a vast difference in equipment technology between the 1990's, early 2000's and now.

Auston Matthews does a flex test on Mats Sundin's old stick and the results were downright comical

While in Toronto, Sundin was able to allow current captain Auston Matthews access to one of his old sticks, dating back to when he last scored 41 goals during the 2001-02 season. The results of the flex test Matthews did at Sundin's instruction were downright comical, with the stick barely bending a few centimeters.
The group of Sundin, Matthews, Max and Tie Domi along with a handful of others could be heard audibly laughing as Matthews struggled to bend the stick, at which point Sundin revealed that former teammate Eric Lindros' stick was even stiffer than his.
It was such a delight to see Sundin back in Toronto, taking part in the pre-game ceremony and taking some time to hang out with the team. Having a legend like him in their presence could certainly do this team some good as they continue to push their way back up the standings as they chase a playoff spot following a disastrous start to the season.

Do you think Mats Sundin could still hang in today's NHL if he was 28 again?
