Former Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe's baffling comments are going viral following the New Jersey Devils' 9-0 loss on Tuesday night.

Sheldon Keefe's decision to leave Jacob Markstrom in net for all nine goals on Tuesday night was a questionable decision in and of itself, but his breakdown of how the Devils played during his post-game interview had everyone baffled.

Keefe Fumbles Words, Should Join Mitch Marner in PR Training

Asked to analyze his team's play following the 9-0 beat-down from the Islanders, Keefe fumbled over his words as he tried to compute just how bad the result was. This is something Leafs Nation is all too familiar with.
While he did call the team's defensive play horrible, it was how he began his press conference that caught everyone by surprise.
"It makes it a challenge because there is a lot of things we did well. That led -- probably offensively in terms of chance generation, the best game we've played in a really long time -- offensively." - Keefe's initial comment following a 9-0 loss
Yes, he criticized their defensive play, but how is the first thing you say complimenting your team's offensive play when with a 9-goal differential in the game? How does Keefe seem to always end up being the guy behind the bench for a team's most embarrassing moments? Does the name David Ayres ring a bell?
Fired by the Maple Leafs in May of 2024, Keefe had his fair share of questionable comments during his tenure as head coach of the Leafs.
That includes walking back criticisms of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares at times to protect their feelings rather than getting the most out of his group and holding people accountable.
Despite being in a less demanding hockey market, Keefe continues to struggle in front of the camera at times, much like a former player of his -- Mitch Marner.
Both continue to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to saying the last thing that fans want to hear, but this latest offering from Keefe is absolutely tone-deaf to what Devils fans must have felt last night and are still feeling today.
