The Maple Leafs are looking to secure a deal to improve at center, and one NHL Insider has confirmed that the Leafs and Flames have had discussions about Nazem Kadri
As offseason rumours swirl around the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team finds itself with holes to fill and cap space to spend following another disappointing playoff exit.
It's safe to say Maple Leafs fans miss Kadri, who has long been admired for his gritty style and tenacity, and he has reportedly drawn renewed interest from Toronto.
As per Nick Kypreos, shared by NHL Rumour Report on X:
"Teams have been inquiring about Flames' Nazem Kadri; Toronto would be one of them."
Beyond the numbers, Kadri brings a tenacious, two-way game, physical edge, and Stanley Cup experience. He's the prototypical Craig Berube-style player and could help shift the Leafs' identity and DNA, something that's much needed.
While there's no guarantee the Leafs can land Kadri, he's exactly the type of player the team needs. Kadri has grown significantly since his last stint in Toronto, and would make a meaningful impact on and off the ice for the team.
