Kadri's epic mic drop moment from his post Cup win interview
In back-to-back playoffs, Nazem Kadri was suspended in round one as a Leaf. He was then traded to Colorado for Alex Kerfoot and Tyson Barrie because the Leafs were tired of his liabilities when it came to playing over the edge.
In fairness to the Leafs, we all know how physical the playoffs are and how pretty much everything is allowed. So for a player to be suspended for an entire series in back-to-back post seasons, you really have to do something stupid.
Kadri was also suspended during the playoffs while playing with the Avalanche, meaning 3 of 4 seasons he watched more games than he played.
For Kadri though, this playoffs was all about redemption. Not only was he a factor in all 4 series, but he also came back from a broken thumb and surgery "months ahead of schedule". Kadri put up 15 points in 15 games, including the controversial overtime winner in game 4. Not only did Kadri redeem himself for his past playoff mistakes, but he also presented us with an all-time mic drop.
Post game at the end of an interview with David Amber, Kadri's final words were "For everyone that thought I was a liability in the playoffs can kiss my ass."
He's not wrong and as a Leaf fan, it was great to see Naz lift the cup, surgically repaired thumb and all. Who knows, maybe he'll be back in the blue and white next season.. who am I kidding? We all know he's the one who got away.
Congrats to Naz on a well-deserved Stanley Cup win.
