From a Position of Strength, the Maple Leafs Could Look Into Making a Unique Trade

The Maple Leafs have a golden opportunity to use an area of strength to address an area of need and take advantage of two rebuilding teams to get better themselves.
It's been awhile since the Toronto Maple Leafs have held a stable goaltending duo.
Anthony Stolarz and
Joseph Woll propelled the club this season to a division title and what makes things even more interesting is emerging talent they have in the minor league system.
With
Dennis Hildeby and
Artur Akhtyamov taking massive strides in their development this past season, the Leafs are in a position of strength at the goaltending position and could look to weaponize that heading into the off-season.
It would certainly take a lot to poach either Stolarz or Woll out of Toronto, but when factoring in the fact that are operating from a position of strength, they would be holding most of the leverage in trade talks that could involve teams like Detroit and Utah, who are both in the market for a goalie.
What a Trade Involving Joseph Woll Could Net the Toronto Maple Leafs
Woll would be able to solve
the Detroit Red Wings' most obvious point of weakness, but if the Leafs move him and perhaps some additional assets, it should come at the cost of a player like
Moritz Seider for Detroit.
The German international is their only defenseman signed through 2026 but they have youngster like
Simon Edvinsson, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, and William Willander coming up in the pipeline.
As for Utah, they should be looking to form a tandem alongside
Karel Vejmelka, and Woll would be able to provide them with exactly that.
However, from the Maple Leafs' perspective,
the Utah Mammoth have no shortage of enticing players and prospects in their system that could be of interest to Brad Treliving.
Acquiring Seider from the Red Wings would come at a cost higher than just Woll. However, it would give them a controlled asset for years to come and at a position of need.
From Utah, the Leafs would be focusing on their grittier younger forwards with offensive pop to help address their depth.
Moving Woll isn't believe to be the plan currently, and the Leafs are more than content with what he's given them in recent years. However, with Hildeby and Akhtyamov so close to being NHL-ready, it's something they could look into as they focus on shoring up weaknesses in other parts of their lineup.
They could also use one of their two young goaltenders in a package to upgrade elsewhere in the lineup.
