Craig Berube's Comment About Nathan MacKinnon Could Be Seen as a Challange to His Maple Leafs
With the Toronto Maple Leafs taking on the Colorado Avalanche tonight, coach Craig Berube knows how hard it is to stop Avs star Nathan MacKinnon.
How do you solve a problem like Nathan MacKinnon? The answer seems to be a very elusive one.
A huge battle is set to take place tonight as two of the top contenders in the league, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche, get ready to faceoff at Scotiabank Arena.
Both teams are hoping to finish as high in their divisions as possible in advance of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While he had plenty to say on the recent play of Max Domi, calling it very encouraging, Leafs head coach Craig Berube took a different approach on the play of Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon.
Asked how his team plans to stop MacKinnon, who is the current points leader in the NHL, Berube joked that he isn't sure, but if someone figures it out before the game starts they should let him know.
The Maple Leafs trail the Florida Panthers for first in the Atlantic Division by just two points.
A win over Colorado would serve as a huge confidence boost going down the stretch.
Berube recently sent a message to his players about playing with more urgency, and it seems that message was received as the Maple Leafs beat Calgary 6-2 in their last game.
Now it's up to the players to maintain that urgency as they go up against another NHL powerhouse. Unfortunately, without a clear answer for Nathan MacKinnon, the team will need to put together another full 60-minute effort and have everyone going to have a chance.
